Week of January 28-31

Due Dates for the Week:

Language Arts: Students are finishing up their Biography Research, which is due this Tuesday, January 28th on Google Classroom. There is a sample attached to the assignment to model the formatting!

Social Studies: Students are working on their West African Kingdoms Timebook Pages on Google Classroom. This is a summative grade, and is due on Friday, January 31.

Week of January 21-24

This week…

  • We are learning West African art, dance, music and storytelling–African Arts Packet (green) due Wednesday, January 22 (in class)

  • ALL late work and regrades are due by the end of Quarter 2 on Friday, January 24 by 4 p.m.

  • Students are continuing their Biography Research, which is due Tuesday, January 28 (both in class and at home–directions on Google Classroom)

Week of January 13-17

Due Dates:

Language Arts–Biography Research (on Google Classroom) due Tuesday, January 28 (for Quarter 3) We are doing ongoing research in the library and classroom, learning what information to look for, how to take notes, and how to cite all sources.

Social Studies–Africa Gold/Salt Trade (pink packet, in class) due Tuesday, January 14. We will then examine African culture and the spread of Islam in Africa. Also, the January Current Event (on Google Classroom) is due Friday, January 17. We will take some time in class to work on this assignment, but some work should also be done at home.

As we get back in the swing of things, our two main units for this month are: 1) Biography Research, and 2) Medieval African Kingdoms.

January 6-10:

Due Thursday, January 9: I am Malala Summative Assessment (on Google Classroom)

Due Friday, January 10: African Kingdoms Map (in class)

On Thursday and Friday, we will be in the library, where Ms. Tini will help both classes with starting their biography research and using the OSLIS database for information.
